after following my own advice today, i was roaming the streets, taking the sunshine in and enjoying the frozen-yoghurt-induced brainfreeze, i got that feeling that i always get, screaming inside me "it's such a beautiful day, do something!" [and yeah, i get that a lot]

so i looked and thought and ate and thought,
and then i called my dad to go help me buy some bags of dirt [always reminds me of that randy kagan stand up], plant some flowers and fix up the balcony for good moods, morning coffee and tanning:)
and so we did.

and don't you forget to turn your lights off tonight, dark side isn't that bad from time to time :P

it's certainly no surprise i'm leaving this blog behind, piece by piece and i guess this time i have to just wrap it up and move on. what i will be moving on to though, is a new blog, something i've been wanting to do for a while now, so after i figure out all the details, name, subject, small things really haha, i hope i'll get on with it. in the meantime, come have a coffe on my balcony, or follow me on twitter, which in reality i blame for letting me abandon my blog. it's way too easy to share inspiration there, no formatting, no special pictures to support articles and.. no articles, just 140 characters to quickly share the info.. i'm a lazy bum..
but how can you not be, when the sun is out all day ;]

sometimes watching the people go by, you just want to make up their stories. you don't know if it's better or worse than where they really are, but you feel pretty good about getting invested - even if you never see them again.

sometimes i wonder about the stories people might make up about me. because everywhere we go there are probably as many stories times as many stories in the room, that is - each and every person's story, and then, all the stories everyone might make up about each other.

it's dizzying, really. and interesting. and best of all it puts you in the past of learning from observation. you know, you'd be surprised - if you really pay attention - what you can come to know about people if you just look quietly and deeply enough.

[i wrote this a while ago, but just got reminded of how fun it is to play stories while waiting at the airport; so many different people, all going somewhere, you wonder where, why, are they running towards something or away, visiting, moving, working... ahh]

recently, i've been under constant sunday syndrome,
every day is kind of the same, and every new thing i find here, is never really new,
so i'm officially taking a break, i guess 'these things just happen', as they say.

i got the travel bugs again, and since i have the time,
i think that would be the best possible solution to feeling 'stuck'.

but don't take it the wrong way - my being stuck is still not the worst kind of being stuck,

since it has a definite end in sight, it's just that i have to be patient.

and that waiting game, to me, has always felt like being stuck :}

so here's to the discovery of the unknown and something to tell the folks back home..
and a soundtrack to it.

probably the first time i've been speechless as well.

i'll be celebrating on my birthday at my all-time favourtie restaurant and after that my currently favourite club, so anyone who knows when and where that is is welcome to join in.
don't expect invitation calls [in fact, my cell will be off all day, 22 years of 'здраве,щастие и любов' can really grind your nerves], it's free will this time, but i'm counting on everyone, of course :P

and don't bring flowers wrapped in plastic unless you are prepared for a lecture on co2 emission, melting icecaps and the extinction of the innuit race and polar bears..

you know how we always say 'new year, new chances' and all that?

i thought it very inspirational to have the opportunity to tell you about a boy who took his one lots of years ago, and is now going to rightfully bask in the outcome of it. and i also find it very inspirational, that this person, as it is, always inspired me in a way, but he probably doesn't know that. [yeah, i'm not feeling too eloquent today..]

he didn't quite cure cancer, or invent velcro or build a spaceship, exactly [although i'm sure one day he will. build a spaceship that is.], but in this small universe we grew up in, in this forsaken environment we got 'shaped and molded', he did something prettyy damn cool, and he is the first one to do it here. he filmed/put together/montaged/edited/etc the first freestyle/freeride ski movie for bulgaria. sure you'd say, that's been done, we have snowboard flicks and stuff. but i think it honorable, cause i've known him for quite a while and it's a one hour movie that he went trough with himself.

the premiere is going to be on the 7th of Jan [thursday] 8:30 at "дом на киното",
movie is called 'Desire To Fly' by Hristian Ignev

so i highly suggest you be there and give him a big ol high five! :D

i was contemplating what great final piece to post before this year turns its back on us and we go wave 'hi' to new chances, but i couldn't think of much. actually, i thought of too much, as always. so then what i thought was that i'd just stop thinking. i'll have my coffee and go help organize the party for tonight - mulled wine, jello shots, fruit salad, cakes and muffins and playlists and all - and then, after midnight, it's total free fall. no new year's resolutions, no promises, and no more goddamn thinking. that wouldn't have to mean i'm giving up on everything i've been working for, i'll just let it come to me this time :)

i don't have any special picture to go with this post,
but i bet everyone has as much showers to take, hair to dry, jello to cook as i do,
so have your coffee in peace, and i'll see you all next year!

not that i'm close to the planned renovations i've been looking forward to so much, but coming back from ikea with another load of new stuff, i decided i can't stash all the coffee tables and decorations away in my 'soon to be used' cupboard, so i decided to get rid of some old stuff.

and we all know how that goes - once you get started you get sucked in the 'oh hell, i don't need that anymore' whirlwind..

so today, once i'm done, i will be throwing out what now looks like tons of magazines and seasonal-decorations. i left a note for the neighbours, but i was thinking, if anyone wants to call dibs on old french/italian/american/british issues of Vogue, Elle, Elle Decorations, Marie Claire, Glamour, or missbehave, Intelligent Life, even Thrasher, Bike, Freeskier, Freeze, and a ton of Intro[bg] and Free[gr] mags, they can send me a pm. also if you're in need of halloween pumpkin lightchains, or candleholders, and old golden rudolfs and santas..

so today we decided to go check out the opening of the christmas bazaar in the park, as it was supposed to be all traditional and holiday-ish and whatnot.
i heard the news-people announce it as 'typically european'. i hope they all went today and are currently stuffing their foot in their mouth.
frankly, it was hideous. i would especially like to stress the absence of mulled wine, which is outrageous! no christmas cookies either, except if maybe you spent your childhood with nescafe instant coffee and a kitkat chunky around the fireplace.
oh but there was plenty of barbecued meat which was the general holiday stench of the main tent. also some thrown-about so-called parlors, which were selling dead fox scarves, those ugly traditional pots i never liked and overpriced, supposedly fair trade accessories. take that for a christmas holiday feel.
the only thing that topped the horrendous organization and concept of the happening were the seriously creepy glowing angel corpses on a string they had put all over the place. maybe they were going for the ghosts of christmas past. i hope so.

i wish i was in germany, but i promise to make a little
gathering with my own infamous glühwein soon. <3

finally i got to watch '500 days of summer' which i was waiting for all [well, what do you know] summer. it was nothing short of what the description read: boy meets girl. boy falls in love. girl doesn't.

it's a perfect depiction of what the harsh difference is between reality and expectations,

but with all the added charm of zooey deschanel and her ever quirky character and vintage clothing style, which wasn't the only thing inspirational about the movie. i loved it.

i loved the start of it and the end of it too haha

it's not just a cheesy[ha-ha] excuse for a holiday or an opportunity for subway to make more bread.

nov. 3 is the anniversary of john montagu's birthday. It's believed that this 18th-century english noble, better known as the fourth Earl of Sandwich, wanted to eat with one hand during a 24-hour gambling bender. so, he instructed his servants to serve him his lunch meat between two pieces of bread.

sandwich day is a celebration of convenience food, a true slice of life.

also, it's an opportunity for me to blog about my love of sandwiches. they're absolutely convenient, they're portable, they're easily made and i love the high personalization factor - we all have our favorite or our i'm-feeling-ravenous-but-uncreative solution.

people should be hosting sandwich parties, to introduce their favorite to others!

recently i've developed a great interest in photography with a bokeh effect, a type of soft focus of the background enhanced by light distortion. the best thing about it is that it either focuses on small details of the whole picture, whilst not ignoring the importance of the background composition [it works better when there are more objects,in quantity and color], or just on nothing but streetlights through a rainy window glass. and this is what i find most amazing about it. it enhances the attention to the detail, and also makes you wonder what wonderful things hide in the background. it just shows you to pay attention to the things that make one moment important enough for you [to take a picture] and to not forget that different things look better in different context [background]...
as an example, again, you can check out the talented dutch photographer Siebe Warmoeskerken of De Vetpan Studios.

Well, well, it took them about a year or two,

i was seriously getting allergic to the CCS mall. first off - it's in the centre, but there's no direct transport to it, the shops are all for old ladies, and the popcorn and service basically suck.

i am outraged!
i spent the last two weekends circling every big supermarket in town to find jello,
and guess what - we don't have it anymore! i've known for a while, that living in this country is a drag, especially after the no fruit loops debacle when i was 12, but no more jello? are you serious? when i asked the supermarket people about it they said that nobody buys it anymore so they stopped production. OUTRAGEOUS! who doesn't like jello? i love love love it! i was planning to have a whole pool of it once i hit the loterry or something. and come on - jello shots are so much better than getting drunk the regular way. what will i eat on sundays? what?!

there's this cat around my co-op who get's fed everyday by various grandma's in need of a good friend at that old age...
i suspect they even bathe that nasty furball, cause it's skin is so damn shiny, it could only be the work of a conditioner serum or/and a cat nutritionist [i believe that job exists...]
anyway, the cat has developed the habbit of now demanding their appaerance and caretaking, and very loudly so, instead of just thankfully waiting for it. the grandmas happen to live on the higher floors of the building , and there happens to be this very tall silver birch in the fornt, the cat always climbs the tree [the process of which goes beyond my imagination, cause it's practically obese] and starts stalking through the balconies to locate anyone who might be a potential feeder.
and since i live on the first floor i'm the most frequent object of the fleabag's attention, and it's kind of annoying, to the point where i even throw froot loops at the ground so the cat will climb down to investigate, and then will have to clomb up again...
that will give the voyeuristic furry criminal some exercise!

oh, the suspense was tiring
and today i was too tired to indulge, but first thing after work tomorrow :
my two favourite brands [in sofia, because my other, more favourites, aren't carried here] have huge sales already and heck yes there's still so much good stuff left!
uh oh, so um yeah - i suggest you do some sales hunting on your favourite brands as well, better sooner than later;)

and just a wee might-i-add: i haven't given up on my consumption restraining resolution, IN FACT, i'm planning to entirely rely on a new chic city bike from now on (expect a separate article on this soon)
and ahem sports clothing (such as biking gloves and backpack and special material garments) are a must if i want to save the planet without sacrificing my own comfort. riight?:) and the amngo clothes...well global warming kid of drives you to shorter shorts and lighter tops... yes.

to stop anyone from being mad at my neglecting my blog for so long, right?

ahh, thought so :)

and well, i should be preparing for work and off to sleep by now,

but i just cant let anyone down anymore, and even if no one's actually reading this,

i'd feel like letting my own discipline in constant web browsing and cool-new-things-finding instinct down.

the thing is, though, that this blog was supposed to be exactly about that - how i fill my(and your) free time by discovering new sweets, sales, and sensations in sofia. but since i don't have much time to get around, there's practically nothing to write about :(

work(or training),on the other side, has been a real adventure, but i'm not supposed to write about that.

but keeping it up on a monthly basis, would be enough, i hope.

Walking around on a fine day like this, after hours and hours of window shopping (once again), me and maria, headed to onda coffee break, desperate for a cafeine and sugar rush,
when we saw the '100gr of sweets' shop right across the street had turned into a caffe,
aaand that that had happened a loong while ago (like last summer), aaand how could we have forgotten about this little sweet treat?
ahh i wonder
but anyway, for those of you who too have forgotten, or just don't know about it -
perfect place to relax and have a coffee in a neighbourhoodly atmosphere even if you don't live anywhere near there.

i almost died yesterday when i got out of our cold and lovely university and felt the crushing 35C degrees on my skin!
and when it's time to go shopping for tops and sandals, you might feel the need for something instantly refreshing.
Well, the best option (next to locking yourself in the freezer) might be the new Onda Coffee Home-made Lemonade, with crushed mint in it and loads of ice:]

i simply love love love useless but fun stuff. that basketball popcorn bowl is purely AMAZING!

as cool (aand useless) is the mini usb coke fridge.

some would argue about the remote controlled drink tray for the pool, since its pretty damn functional, DUH. i wish i had a pool...

the door stopper is pretty cool too, also avaliable in banana version;)

i remember all those countless times sitting at the grand trainstation waiting to catch a train to Munich, on our way back to Bulgaria. see, whenever we went back, my grandpa insisted to come say goodbye, and then we always sneaked away to the donut parlor and he bought me a sugar glazed donut. it was a long ridged french cruller, my grandpa loved them. and so did i.mmmmmm

i don't think i had had one in years, when last week me and my boyfriend accidentally got one of those on our tray, not the french cruller, but a simple sugar glazed donut at dunkin's. oh god was that yummy! ever since i think we've been having one every day. even the chocolate cream glazed ones...

oh, i sound like an addict.

after the great shock of seeing ironman for 8 whole bucks last weekend, i was pretty roughed up. i remember being 13 and going to the movies for 3lv.! we could buy popcorn and huge cokes and gummibears and it was still within our day's allowance. yadda yadda, times change, tickets got 5,6,7 bucks, but we got older and had more allowance and we could afford going to the theater every second weekend and even eat out before that and have a fix mix fresh squeezed juice for the viewing. but 8 bucks?? come on! seen as you can't even get popcorn for under 2 bucks anymore, that's almost 10, and that's how much you pay for a good meal out or even two whole mojitos at cappuccino.
so i looked into it and i found the trick to get around to ... drumrolls please ... the old price of tickets. yes, that's right, you just have to choose the right day! :)

to associate the well famous street skate brand Vans with punk rock music and old school playground nostalgie, but there you go - being officially reminded - out comes the new Bad Brains hi-top, an idea by u.s. skateshop Supreme.

for those a little back on the info train - Bad Brains is a u.s. harcore punk band formed back in '77, washington d.c. highly regarded as one of the pioneers of hardcore punk rock.

collection will be available in supreme skateshops in ny and la, also in japan...and that's about it;)
